Quarterly Luncheon

 

Join the Chamber on October 25 for our Quarterly Chamber Luncheon.  Our speaker will be Mr. Steve Pinney, Senior Vice President of Phosphate Operations for The Mosaic Company.  Mr. Pinney will be flying in from Mosaic's headquarters in Plymouth, Minnesota to speak about the Florida phosphate industry and its impact on our economy.

Mr. Pinney's Bio

Steven L. Pinney has been senior vice president, phosphate operations for The Mosaic Company since its formation in October 2004 with the merger of Cargill Crop Nutrition and IMC Global.

Prior to the merger, Mr. Pinney was a senior vice president of Cargill, Incorporated, and leader of Cargill's Phosphate Production Business Unit. He also served as president of Cargill Fertilizer, Inc. After joining Cargill in 1976, he held plant engineering positions in Cargill's Oilseeds Processing and Fertilizer businesses, including vice president of operations for Cargill's Florida mining and manufacturing operations. He also was business unit leader for Phosphate Production, including Cargill's fertilizer operations in Brazil and China.

A Tampa Bay resident for over 20 years before relocating to Mosaic’s Plymouth, Minnesota headquarters in June 2007,  Mr. Pinney has a long history of personal community involvement and leading the volunteerism activities of Mosaic employees in Central Florida. He is a past chairman and served a six-year term as a director of United Way of Central Florida. He served a six-year term as a member of the Board of Governors for Prevent Blindness Florida and also served as Vice Chairman of the Board. He served a three-year term as a director of the Bartow Chamber of Commerce and as a member of that Chamber’s Education Task Force for five years.

Prior to his relocation he was also a member of the statewide Florida Council of 100 and Chairman of the Tampa Port Authority Board of Commissioners, to which he was appointed for a four-year term in 2006 by then-Governor Jeb Bush.

Mr. Pinney holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology.
