Captain Joel
Brandenburg-
Captain Joel Brandenburg
is a native Floridian living here in
Apollo Beach. After twenty plus years
working in the corporate world (Service
Corp. International), Joel gave up his
suit and tie in exchange for deck shoes
and a fishing pole. That was the start
of Ana Banana Fishing Charters more than
five years ago! He’s lived in Apollo
Beach for the past ten years and has two
children, Brooke age four, and Joseph
lll, age 9. His hobbies include fishing,
hunting, golf, tennis and motorcycling.
Captain Joel is extremely proud of his
lineage, as his 5th great Uncle was
George Washington, and his 5th great
grandfather was Francis Scott Key.
Captain Joel’s selected charities for
the Apollo Beach Honorary Mayor’s race
are the Mary Martha House, and also the
Bolesta Center for Adolescent Deaf and
Hearing Impaired. Captain Joel can be

Richard Crannell-
Richard Crannell, a
resident of Tampa since 1957 and Apollo
Beach since 1999, graduated from the
University of Florida in 1976 with a
Bachelors degree in Business
Administration. Upon graduation, he
married his current wife of 32
years, Katy, residing in Denver
Colorado. After a three year honeymoon
in Colorado, returned to Tampa to start
a career in the family business, Safety
Equipment Company Inc. In 1986 he and
his brother purchased the business from
their father, grew the business
nationally and internationally until the
business was sold in 2001. In 1991,
after 16 years of marriage, the pride of
their life, Kelsey was born. Kelsey is
currently a sophomore at the Academy
of the Holy Names.
After experiencing retirement for 1 1/2
years and getting tired of retirement
he started investing, then dealing in
real estate, placing his license with
Century 21 Beggins Enterprises in 2002.
Through a transition period, he became a
full time commercial real estate agent
on the Commercial Connection Group Team
for Century 21 Beggins in 2003 where he
works today. Richard’s chosen
charity for the Honorary Mayor event is
Easter Seals. He may be reached by

Vickie Carver - Tawney
Vickie Carver -Tawney is the owner, and
one of the stylists at Hair Carvers
(soon to be Victoria’s 5th Ave. Salon).
She’s been open for fifteen years, and
have been a chamber member for almost
all of that time. Running for honorary
mayor not only lets me raise money for a
great charity (Shriner’s Children’s
Hospital of Tampa Bay) but it also lets
me get more involved with the Apollo
Beach Chamber. I am very excited and
honored to running so that I may help
not one, both of these great
organizations. Vickie can be reached by
calling (813) 625-9488 or e-mail at
vcarver333@aol.com
