The premier arts event in South Shore, the Apollo Beach Manatee Arts Festival was a rousing success when held last March 11 and 12.  Thousands came to the Festival grounds in Apollo Beach for fun, food, and to celebrate the visual, performing, and culinary arts.

For 2006 a cadre of national and international artists and craftsmen exhibited their work to thousands of Festival attendees.  Our Festival featured:

over 100 juried artists selected for talent and creativity.

(See our Online Gallery below for a sample of their work!)

art in a wide range of media including painting, sculpture, woodworking, photography, and jewelry making.

  a Children's Creativity Center with hands-on crafts.

the "Magical Moments" children's activity place featuring face painting, story telling, games for little ones, hair beading, puppet shows, gymnastics demonstrations, and the ever-popular Boopsie da Clown with his magic tricks and balloon art for kids.

the Young at Art exhibit, a competitive exhibition featuring the artwork of youngsters from across Hillsborough County.

the Culinary Arts Competition featuring a live culinary contest between groups of highly talented high school students and reviewed by a panel of professional judges.

Entertainment  featuring "Lester Freeman and D Band"!  Lester is an original member of the Soul Brothers Six, best known for their super-hit "Some Kind of Wonderful".  A resident of Apollo Beach, he performs in various night clubs in Tampa and Las Vegas.  At the 2006 Festival Lester had the crowds standing on their feet and dancing across the grounds with his own music and the music of his friends.

a Patrons Program for the art enthusiast, including a special Festival Preview Party where Patrons could meet our artists and the Festival organizers.

a free shuttle service to the TECO Manatee Viewing Center to see manatees and other wildlife in their habitat.

a wide variety of food and beverage vendors including an open-air bistro for beer and lively conversation.

Now in our 14th year, the Festival has developed a great reputation among artists, art professionals, and the public.  This year we have a truly exceptional group of national and international exhibitors ready to showcase their talents for you!  Join us on March 11 and 12 at the Festival grounds just north of Apollo Beach on US 41.  For more information call the Chamber office at (813) 645-1366 or email us at abeachcham@verizon.net.
